Dear friend of VCN,
We
are winding down to the final week of the General Assembly. As lawmakers
wrestle with the challenge of funding core services, including conservation, it
is vital that citizens weigh in. Please click below and take a moment to
contact your lawmakers on urgent conservation and budget issues:
I
also hope that you will join us next Thursday, March 11th, to hear from
globally recognized experts on uranium mining and milling. As part of our
ongoing efforts to educate policy-makers and the public on this very timely
issue, VCN, Dan River Basin Association, Friends of the Earth, Piedmont
Environmental Council, Sierra Club - Virginia Chapter, Southern Environmental
Law Center, and Virginia Interfaith Power & Light are an all-day symposium
in Richmond. Doors open at 9:15; please click
here to RSVP.
Finally,
I wanted to let you know that one of our network's affiliate members is in the
running for $25,000 and needs your help to get it! Dan River Basin Association
is a finalist in the American Rivers/MillerCoors Watershed Grants
contest. The winner is decided by an online poll. DRBA does great
work in Southside Virginia and this grant will fund restoration and
education work that otherwise won't get done. So VOTE
NOW and please pass the link on to your friends.
All
the best,
Nathan
Lott
Executive Director
