Dear friend of VCN,
I sometimes have the
opportunity to learn and work alongside my conservation peers in other states.
When I tell them I’m from Virginia, they sometimes mention Richmond’s urban
whitewater playground on James River or our marvelous state park system. But more than any other natural asset, they
mention the Blue Ridge Parkway.
This year the Blue Ridge
Parkway and celebrate its 75th anniversary. Special activities are planned for
many areas along the corridor throughout the year. Visit www.blueridgeparkway75.org to learn
more and see a full activity calendar.
The Parkway has an
annual economic impact of $2.3 billion in Virginia and North Carolina—just one
way that the protection of natural and historic resources drives (no pun
intended) Virginia’s $19 billion tourism industry.
If you've never taken
time to visit the parkway, this year is a great year. Visit one of Virginia's
many historical sites, take your bike, or enjoy hiking on one of the great
trails.
Best wishes,

Nathan Lott
